Ideas?

Anyone have any ideas what to do with a 4 1/2 year old suffering ennui, having given up naps six months ago? I can only let him play with knives for so long.

Please keep in mind when offering suggestions that EVERYONE else in the house, except Daddy, is trying to nap. :)

Here's where a TV comes in mighty handy...I've spent many half hours snoozing on the couch while my non-nappers watched Blues Clues. But since that's not an option for you...how about www.nickjr.com? I don't let my kids on the computer usually, but they do LOVE this website and the games and online coloring activites.

OR...my kids love those inexpensive puzzles from Walmart or wherever - only $2 or less. My three year old does the 24 pieces and it keeps her busy for hours. My older boys do 100 pieces. I've heard, but not seen, that there are 50 piece puzzles which would be right for your son. You may have to help him once or twice until he learns the picture.

Hint: take a new puzzle and label the back of each piece with a code. When you have six 100 piece puzzles scattered all over the floor, it will make cleanup easier.

Michelle has some good ideas.

Another one I'd like to suggest is Legos! Dylan has been on a big Lego kick lately, but he knows that they're something he has to play with in his bedroom because of the choking hazard they pose to the baby. He'd stay in his room all afternoon if I'd let him, building kingdoms!

And then, of course, there's drawing or coloring. (Always another big hit with Dylan!)
